Mom whose photo went viral and was attacked by online mom shamers speaks up

Around a year ago a mommy named Molly Lensing was bashed online. The photo of her in the airport and her 2 month old sprawled on the floor went viral. She got mommy shamed for it. She got mocked and bashed as the woman who was more interested in her cellphone than her infant.

It all started when a man, yes a man, who doesn’t know how it’s like to carry a human being inside his tummy, and has never experienced having said baby rip him open so the little one can come out, snapped a photo of this woman in an airport. He then posted the photo with a caption basically shaming her and calling her an “idiot”.

But you see, there is so much more to this photo.

This happened during the Delta computer shut-down. Her flight was delayed and re booked a couple of times so she found herself getting stuck sitting in the airport for more than 21 hours. Let me repeat that, 21 hours, and yes with a baby.

“Anastasia had been held or in her carrier for many hours. My arms were tired. She needed to stretch. And I had to communicate with all the family members wondering where the heck we were,” she told TODAY Parents in an interview.

And that’s when Lensing, a pediatric nurse, found herself placing her infant on the floor for awhile and texting their family to tell them where they were.

Soon after her photo went viral and people started identifying her by name, she started receiving messages online. She was afraid that her work too will be affected.

She felt that her privacy was violated because a man decided he wanted to prove himself superior over a tired mommy who’s been sitting in the airport for 21 hours.

While so many bashed Lensing, there were also those who defended her saying. No one , should make fun of, bash, humiliate, and judge a tired mother. It is down right disgusting.
