Time’s women leaders talk about the parents who shaped them

This is an amazing video with a collection of short interviews with women leaders who are shattering glass ceilings everywhere in different fields. They talk about the parents who shaped them, into becoming the people they are now.

It’s amazing how our everyday conversations, the memories of things we do at home, and the way we make our children feel will stick with them throughout their lives.

They will remember the sound of our voice, our little gestures, our laugh, and our beautiful flaws. Renowned chef Alice Walters in this video recalls with a smile “She [her mom] wasn’t a very good cook,”.

Behind the success of a woman is a mother or a father who inspired her to achieve things beyond her imagination. A mother who helped her make sense of the world, who gave her a positive perspective on things. US Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley who’s from an Indian family, shared : “My parents always told me, you know the things that make you different makes you special”.

Behind the success of a woman could be a proud Dad who stood by her little girl as she achieved her dreams. Even if that dream to be fulfilled in a field  traditionally dominated by men. “I can tell you no one was prouder than my dad at my promotion ceremony to four stars. True enough he was there in the front row in a wheel chair and stood up for the national anthem,” retired US Army General, Ann Dunwoody shares.
